We were upgraded from a family room to a suite - a very nice gift at the end of an exciting journey. The oversized double kingsize bed was very comfortable, the staff refreshingly young and very friendly

stylish, old manor house - english ambience. sanitary facilities and rooms according to age. service and food very good. quiet surroundings, beautiful park - sufficient parking spaces.
lots of guests with dogs. only accessible by car via the narrow hedge paths, longer journey times if you want to visit other places.

The time-honoured house in an extremely quiet location in the middle of the country has a lot of charm. We felt like in a château. Also our dinner and the breakfast were excellent.
The park with its diverse plant and tree population could use a little more intensive care.

magnificent old castle, wonderful rooms on the ground floor, beautiful park landscape. double room was pleasantly spacious. breakfast had excellent choice. cleanliness of course top. bathrobes were also provided. cleaning staff was very friendly.
location outside the town can only be reached via very narrow country roads with dense planting on both sides of the road. there are very few gaps to let oncoming traffic through, so that you are forced to drive many meters in reverse to the previous gap if oncoming traffic comes up. one has to worry about returning too late from a day's destination, i. e. in the dark, because in the dark, avoiding an oncoming vehicle for 40-50 meters in reverse gear will be no fun for anyone... "address", is on the letterhead of the hotel, does not mention the city or the street, so that you can't type anything reasonable into an old navigation system... since the "address" seemed incomplete to me, i asked by email for the name of the city and street for the navigation system. answer was the stereotypical letterhead, i had already received in the confirmation letter? there i had to wonder if the staff is overstrained, if one asks for the exact indication of the street... after two hours of using the navigation system (i had actually typed in "gaveton" as the street, gaveton is neither the street nor the city), we called unnerved, we were quite close, you just can't find the hotel in this jungle of extremely narrow, overgrown country roads. description of the way was very helpful, because very exactly, 5 min later we were there. with my concrete request for street and city name of the address i would have liked to have also the concrete hint that one should type in the postal code instead of the city and alternatively, from a certain, nearby street (give concrete street name) an exact description of the way to the hotel.

This hotel is very quiet and the superior room was very spacious and nicely decorated. The evening gastronomy is good quality but also has its price. The breakfast menu is very good and offers a variety of options.
As so often in England, the bathroom is getting old and in need of renovation. The approach via very narrow country roads is not for everyone.

A dreamlike manor house in the middle of a beautiful landscape. Fantastic gardens, a lot of love for detail (for example, you will find rubber boots right at the entrance), extraordinary food and enchanting staff. The entire hotel is extremely dog-friendly (dry and wet food with bowls and toys in the room), dog towels at the entrance, extra dining room, delicious food at the reception - all around a feel-good place for four-legged friends.

our recent walking tour in Totnes was made even more memorable by our stay at this charming hotel. The remote location added to the idyllic landscape, and the spacious, comfortable room had a delightful country house feel. The highlight, however, was the exceptional food - both the à la carte and tasting menu were of high quality and great value. The friendly staff made our visit truly pleasurable.

Set in a picturesque landscape, the hotel feels secluded but is conveniently located near a town. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with charming country house decor. The highlight of our stay was the exceptional food. The à la carte and tasting menus were both impressive, offering high-quality cooking and original dishes. The meals were also fantastic value for money. The staff were friendly and welcoming, adding to the enjoyable experience.
One minor downside was the bar setup, which felt a bit cramped and not as relaxing as we had hoped. Having dinner tables in the bar area was a bit unusual, making it feel slightly uncomfortable.

A fantastic castle-like hotel in a beautiful park with beautifully decorated rooms. Also the rooms are kept in old, noble style. Huge rooms (suites!) with an extremely wide king-size bed (would be enough for three). High class dinner - really very good! Breakfast with everything your heart desires: continental, including fruit. Beautiful facility, staff extremely courteous and polite. Probably our best hotel experience so far in England!
nothing!
